a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating in the great state of Oklahoma

WHO ARE WE? - The Wellness Council was the brainchild of Rev Dr Shanna Warner. *** Shanna and her husband, Mark Warner, were the publishers of the local edition of a national magazine, Natural Awakenings.

The council was envisioned as a way to gather together all the holistic-minded businesses throughout the state of Oklahoma. The idea was that "A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats!"  If we could all work together, then we could possibly do some serious good in the state! That at least, was the goal. The people who came to the meetings and got involved are some of the best people on the planet!

Except....well, most other wellness providers and practitioners didn't especially want to get together. So, the Council struggled to get small and large businesses to develop trust. Even as a non-profit, there was so much distrust among the holistic community, wtih lies and backbiting and just bad attitudes galore. The Council held free monthly meetings and hosted big wellness expos. We tried to serve small businesses in the state, thereby helping them reach more clients who need them.

Now, MOST people in this state are open-minded and open-hearted, so please don't think I am complaining. It's just that so many people in the holistic business field operate with a mindset based in lack and fear; basically, they believe that they MUST aggressively compete with other holistic businesses because there aren't enough clients to go around. THIS IS A LIE. Lack and fear are lies. The need and desire for connection, and for health and wellness is a deep-seated desire in all of humanity.

So, in the immortal words of Unity founder Myrtle Fillmore, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink; you can lead an ass to knowledge, but you can't make him think."

(Thanks to Unity CEO Shad Groverland for the Myrtle quote.)

*** Rev. Shanna is the Minister of Unity of Tulsa, Midtown, a metaphysical Christian Church, at 3355 S Jamestown in Tulsa.  Dr. Shanna Warner has a PhD in Transpersonal Counseling specializing in self-hypnosis training; and is also a Reiki Master providing no-fee, donation-based treatments in the Tulsa area. ***

The Wellness Council of Oklahoma is taking a long winter's nap while we decide how to move forward!
STAY TUNED for more info - We hope to find a way to reorganize soon.  And a reason to do so.
